GrowVeg is an online application that users can utilize as a garden planner which will help them grow vegetables and fruit to the best of their ability, regardless of the size or share of their garden or plot. GrowVeg makes it easy to draw out one's garden plan and decide how best to plant their fruits or veggies. The GrowVeg garden planning application shows how much space certain plants require and how to group them in the very best way. This removes the need to look up planting distances and crop families. Also, GrowVeg has a ton of growing advice that is just a click away. So as users are making their plans and choosing the plants that they want to include, they can also prevent any unforeseeable problems and maximize their harvesting potential. GrowVeg will also indicate to its users when something in their garden required tending. The application is available in both inches and feet or metric units. GrowVeg's gardening advice covers the span of grow guides to pest control to how to plant with children.Show more screenshots »
GrowVeg.com is run by Growing Interactive, a UK-based company with offices in the UK and US. The site was founded by Jeremy Dore a computer programmer and an organic gardener. It is supported by a team of a dozen employees.
GrowVeg's best feature is that it keeps track of one's crops from the past years and warns one if they have already grown something in that family in that spot in the past. This helps maintain the best crop rotation. The application also just focuses on vegetables and fruit so it's not like other aesthetic garden planning applications in that regard.
Some of the issues with the site include in its usage, sometime when a user tries to copy one plan to another, it may not layout perfectly. Especially if the beds are larger or smaller on the new plot- some of the bed might get truncated. Also it would be nice if users could select an area and highlight the elements of that area. Instead uses need to select one item at a time. They could hold the shift key to select items as a group but this isn't the most intuitive way of doing it. On the other hand, the application is very well-designed and polished. It is fast to run and there were no major bugs encountered during the review.
To register for GrowVeg users can opt for the 30-day trial. After that they will need to subscribe to the application. The free trial simply requests one's email address, a password and for them to accept the terms and conditions. They won't need to input payment information until they are ready to subscribe.
GrowVeg offers a free trial of its application for thirty days. After that, the service costs $25 for a 1-year subscription or $40 for a 2-year subscription.
GrowVeg is great for anyone who is looking to grow their own fruits, vegetables or who wants to ensure that their food is organic. It is great for garden enthusiasts, health nuts or families who are looking for a fun, frugal and practical thing that they can do together.
